Selenophilia

Every night you watch the moon
you take comfort in knowing you’ll see her soon
you miss her every day and night
you miss her face, like luna’s, that shine’s so bright

She resembles the moon in all of her ways
so calm and so beautiful and quiet by day
to her you are the sun and all of her stars
and you do not know how you heal all her scars

You’re a selenophile, but she does not know
that you love her and want her, to call her your own
you’re both so in love, yet you run from the word
for fear of being broken and of sounding absurd

and maybe, one night, when the moon stands before you
you’ll grab her hand and take her away too
but maybe you’ll love her too much to take her
and let her escape with some other selenophile stranger.

Poem

She walks in the shadows, all quiet and shy. Hot as the sun, she melts me away. She walks on the road to marriage, but the man has failed to wait. She is as pure as the flower in the garden of Eden, but the man has wasted away. So she sees him and wishes to help. They live together for ever, and he becomes as Godly a she.
